Today, Sunday, the representative of the Fatah Alliance, Mahmoud Al-Hayani, stressed the necessity of dissolving the Iraqi Council of Representatives, as more than four months have passed since the position of Speaker of the Council became vacant due to disagreements between the Sunni blocs.
Al-Hayani said in a statement to Al-Maaloma Agency, “The political custom that prevailed in the political process is behind all these problems,” noting that “breaking the political custom that was established after 2003 will solve many political problems.”
He added, “The position of Speaker of Parliament has become the monopoly of one party, which uses it as a means to serve its partisan interests and not serve Iraq,” noting that “Iraq operates in a democratic system and must submit to the democratic process and the peaceful transfer of power.”
It is noteworthy that after the dismissal of the head of the Taqadum Party, Muhammad al-Halbousi, the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives has become vacant until today, amid parliamentary calls to dissolve it and work on early elections to save the political process.
