The representative of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Muhammad Al-Baldawi, confirmed, on Friday, that some parties are trying to thwart the project of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani to eliminate corruption, pointing out that there are thousands of corruption files that the government is working to open and hold those involved accountable.
Al-Baldawi told Al-Maalouma, “Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a Al-Sudani launched his project to combat corruption and eradicate this scourge, and the success of this matter is linked to the support and solidarity of all parties in order to ensure the achievement of the desired result.”
He added, “Iraq has thousands of corruption files committed by corrupt people who were in power, as well as in the provinces and state institutions, at a time when there are personalities and senior officials who exert pressure on the executive as well as the judicial authority to prevent the corrupt from being held accountable.”
And he indicated that “Al-Sudani took correct steps to reform the country and eliminate corruption, and this became clear after the measures taken by the Minister of Interior to carry out reforms in the security establishment to eliminate corruption.”
