Al-Azm responds to Al-Halbousis bloc - Talking about approving a general amnesty before the balance sheet is incorrectShafaq News/ The “Al-Azm” parliamentary bloc denied, on Thursday, linking the passage of the amnesty law to the approval of the “tripartite” federal budget, expecting the amnesty to be approved after the vote on the budget.

The head of the bloc, Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, told Shafaq News agency, “The talk about linking the general amnesty law to the budget law is not correct, and the general amnesty has nothing to do with the budget law, and we expect the general amnesty law to be passed after the budget law is approved.”

Al-Mashhadani’s words come in contrast to what the bloc of Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi said on April 25 that the legislation of the general amnesty law will precede the legislation of the state’s general budget law.

Al-Mashhadani pointed out; That “there is political consensus on 50% of the articles and paragraphs of the General Amnesty Law, while the remaining paragraphs will be amended and agreed upon within the State Administration Coalition.”

Al-Mashhadani stressed that “the Parliamentary Legal Committee is working on completing the paragraphs of the general amnesty law and sending it to the House of Representatives in order for it to be ready for voting.”

Earlier today, the Presidency of the Iraqi Council of Representatives set next Saturday as the date for the resumption of sessions to discuss six draft laws.

The parliament’s agenda, which was reported to Shafaq News agency, showed that the session will be held at 11 am next Saturday, corresponding to April 29, and includes voting on six draft laws, not including the federal budget law or the general amnesty.
