Politician Khaled Al-Assadi expressed, on Wednesday, his lack of confidence in the American request from Prime Minister Muhammad Al-Sudani to withdraw coalition forces from Iraq, describing it as “a speck in the eyes and nothing more.”
Al-Asadi told Al-Maalouma, “The paths to regulate the relationship between Baghdad and Washington, most notably the strategic framework agreement, which includes training, consultation, and protection of security missions, have nothing to do with the American request for the withdrawal of its forces.”
He added, “The matter is related to the government’s position, which must be clear regarding the presence of American forces, including trainers and advisors, and it must declare its guarantee to the American side to protect diplomatic missions and the absence of Iraq’s need for trainers and military advisors to ensure the withdrawal of foreign forces, including American forces.”
Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani announced yesterday, Tuesday, that Baghdad had received an official letter from the American embassy approving its request regarding scheduling the end of the tasks of the international coalition forces in Iraq.
