Sabah Al-Akili, a member of the Rights Movement, confirmed on Wednesday that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani will not obtain a second term following the major disagreements that took place in the recent period between him and the Coordination Framework.
Al-Akili said in a statement to / Al-Maalouma /, “All indicators and data indicate that Al-Sudani will not form a coalition with the Coordination Framework in the next phase after the parliamentary elections scheduled for next November.”
He added, “The past days witnessed major disagreements between the Coordination Framework and Al-Sudani, and therefore the framework’s message to the Prime Minister is clear, as it refused to renew his term again after the parliamentary elections.”
He explained that “Al-Sudani seeks to get closer to the Sunni and Kurdish leaderships in order to achieve his goal of obtaining a second term, as well as to work on making major concessions, which represents the greatest challenge facing the political process after the announcement of the election results.”
