Political observer Sabah Al-Akeili considered, on Tuesday, the targeting of Ain Al-Assad base yesterday as a response to the targeting of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Jurf Al-Nasr.
Al-Akeili said in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency, “The targeting of Ain al-Assad base in Anbar yesterday, Monday, led to the killing of an American soldier and the wounding of a number of soldiers, according to what some security sources reported.”
He added, “The operation came in response to the American targeting of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Jurf al-Sakhar, first, and secondly, due to the lack of serious development from the Iraqi and American sides regarding the withdrawal negotiations, as the Iraqi citizen did not see any indication of the withdrawal of American forces and the results of the meeting between the two sides are still unclear.”
He continued, “Targeting Ain al-Assad base and the subsequent targeting of American bases will put al-Sudani’s government before the choice of insisting on the American and foreign withdrawal from Iraqi territory.”
