Member of the Rights Movement, Sabah Al-Akeeli, confirmed that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani presented Iraqi oil to Erdogan on a silver platter in a historical precedent without consulting the House of Representatives.
Al-Akeeli told Al-Maalouma, “Erdogan and the rest of the Turkish leaders often declare that a barrel of water is equivalent to a barrel of oil, and now the Sudanese government has presented Iraqi oil on a silver platter to the Turkish side.”
He added that “what Al-Sudani did in the water file represents a historic concession that has never happened before, and even the defunct regime rejected it when it was previously proposed to it,” explaining that “the issue of granting or gifting oil to another country requires parliamentary legislation with a two-thirds vote of the parliament, otherwise it is considered a violation by Al-Sudani.”
He explained that “Al-Sudani fulfilled Turkey’s desire to exchange water for oil, thus clearly conceding Iraq’s wealth and resources, despite the media hype surrounding the oil-for-projects deal, at a time when Iraq needs water more than it needs projects.”
