Al-Abadi - Holding early elections is not possible and there is a trend to end the missions of the international coalition within a yearThe head of the Victory Coalition, Haider al-Abadi, ruled out holding early legislative elections in Iraq before their scheduled date at the end of next year.

Al-Abadi said in a press statement, “Holding parliamentary elections before their scheduled date in November 2025 is not possible,” noting that “Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani is not new to responsibility, and this has created an atmosphere of interaction with the people,” stressing that “political disputes and competition should not affect the work of the government.”

He pointed out that “not proposing the election of the Speaker of Parliament in the sessions held is a clear violation {and perjury}”, noting that “there is a sharp Sunni dispute and some of them do not want to elect a new Speaker of the House of Representatives.”

He revealed that “the Coordination Framework and the Democratic Party agreed to form a committee to communicate and prevent the expansion of problems.”

Al-Abadi pointed out that “there is serious governmental research and discussion to end the work of the international coalition in Iraq, and the Iraqi discussions with the American side are heading towards ending its presence in Iraq within a year.”
