After suspending its sessions the Iraqi parliament moved to dissolve it and hold early electionsShafaq News/ Independent MP Hussein Al-Saabari revealed on Sunday that there is a tendency to dissolve the Iraqi parliament and hold early elections, if its sessions continue to be disrupted.

Al-Saabari told Shafaq News Agency, ” The lack of a legal quorum for the convening of the House of Representatives sessions caused us a problem and embarrassment, in addition to the fact that this matter disrupts the oversight and legislative role of the Council.”

He added: ” We asked the Speaker of the House of Representatives to go to early elections instead of the continuous disruption of the work of Parliament,” indicating that “if the situation of the Council remains disrupted like this, we will move to collect signatures from the representatives to dissolve Parliament and go to early elections.”

The House of Representatives is witnessing a continuous disruption of its sessions, due to the lack of a legal quorum to hold them, despite announcing the agenda and setting the date of the session.

The legislative elections are supposed to be held next October, which is the constitutional date.
