Karim al-Tamimi, an election affairs advisor, predicted on Saturday that Shiite political parties and forces would win 183 seats in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Al-Tamimi said in a statement he circulated to the media, including Shafaq News Agency, that the “Reconstruction and Development” alliance led by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani is expected to win 50 seats, while the “State of Law” coalition led by Nouri al-Maliki will win 31 seats, and the “Sadiqun” movement, headed by Qais al-Khazali, the Secretary-General of the “Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq” movement, will win 22 seats.

He added that the “State Forces” alliance, led by Ammar al-Hakim, will obtain 18 seats, the “Badr” organization, headed by the organization’s Secretary-General Hadi al-Amiri, will obtain 14 seats, and the “Services” alliance will obtain 10 seats.

According to Al-Tamimi, the “Tasmeem” alliance will get 9 seats, while “Abshir Ya Iraq” will get 7 seats, and the “Al-Asas” alliance will get 6 seats.

The former advisor to the President of the Republic for elections continued, saying: The Alternative Alliance will get 5 seats, and the Rights Movement will get 3 seats, bringing the total number of seats for Shiite parties and alliances in the parliamentary elections to 175 seats.

He went on to say that “Ashraqat Kanun” is expected to win 5-6 seats, in addition to other scattered parties that will win 3 seats, bringing the final total to 183 seats for Shiite parties.
