The President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masroor Barzani, received today, Saturday, Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, who arrived in Erbil this morning on an official visit at the head of a high-ranking delegation that included a number of ministers and officials.
In the meeting that was held between the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the delegation of the Federal Government headed by Abdul-Mahdi, according to a statement of Barzani’s media office, “highlighting the latest developments in Iraq and the region and the relations between the two sides.”

Abdul-Mahdi said during the meeting: “There is a good basis for understanding and solving problems between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government, and there is an opportunity to solve all problems and in the interest of all Iraqis.”

For his part, the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government stressed the need to resolve all outstanding problems between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government by implementing the agreements concluded between the two sides, and he said: “The implementation of this needs a decision and a firm and serious will to be decided on all contentious issues.”

He pointed out that “ISIS continues to pose a serious threat to Iraq, calling for increased coordination between the two sides with the assistance of the international coalition.”

The two sides stressed “the importance of distancing Iraq from external conflicts, and they stressed the need for the country to have balanced relations with all.”

It is noteworthy that the federal delegation that accompanied the Prime Minister consisted of “Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Fouad Hussein, Foreign Minister Muhammad Ali al-Hakim, Minister of Planning Nuri al-Dulaimi, Minister of Education and Scientific Research Qusay al-Suhail, and head of the National Intelligence Service Mustafa al-Kazemi, in addition to a chief advisor Minister Abdel-Hassanin El-Hanin, and Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, Lieutenant-General Abdel-Amir Yarallah.

On the side of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the meeting was attended by “Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani and Interior Minister Riber Ahmed and Finance Awat Sheikh Janab, as well as a number of ministers and government officials.”
