On Sunday, caretaker Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi confirmed that he was scheduled to meet Qasim Soleimani on the morning of his martyrdom.

He added, “This act added new complications to the scene and made the holding of this meeting an unavoidable necessity. For history, I also remember that I was on a date with the martyr Soleimani at eight thirty in the morning of his martyrdom, and he was scheduled to carry a message to me from the Iranian side.”
