Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s office announced the start of the fight against corruption.
“The battle we were talking about three years ago started as we won against terrorism, we won against terrorism and we won to preserve the unity of the country. We will win the battle of Iraq against corruption,” said Nawfal Abu al-Shun, deputy director of Abadi’s social networking site.

Transparency International classifies Iraq from the world’s most corrupt countries and has been in the rankings for years.
