The commander-in-chief of the armed forces, Haider al-Abadi, said Tuesday that 100 years ago successive governments could not reach the border completely with Syria, confirming the clearance of about 14 thousand km 2 in the island.
Abadi said during his weekly conference held at the government palace in Baghdad, attended by a number of journalists, that “the security forces cleared about 14 thousand km 2 of the island area,” reiterating his assertion “to end the existence of a military advocate.”
“For 100 years, successive governments have not been able to reach the border fully with Syria,” he said.
