Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, stressed the unity of Iraq and rejected the referendum on the secession of the Kurdistan region, in what prompted French President Emmanuel Macaron, to exercise restraint in the referendum crisis.

McCron demanded “to recognize the rights of the Kurds in Iraq as we want to maintain the stability and unity of Iraq,”
He expressed “France’s hope to engage Iraq in national reconciliation and a solution including all, including the Kurds. ”
The French president announced the opening of a “new page” in relations with Iraq and to continue France ‘s participation in the coalition until the end , “adding that” France will be alongside Iraq in its efforts to become a country of tolerance and peace. ”
He noted that the agreements between Baghdad and Paris will be signed by 400 million euros in 2018, adding that “they intend to provide health and financial services to Iraq, and will work to strengthen the economic sector, defense and industrial between Iraq and France within the Baghdad Forum.”
For his part, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, said that “the referendum of Kurdistan is unconstitutional and rejected,” noting that “the Iraqi constitution is equal among all citizens and voted by the Kurds also, but the vote on secession is an outright violation of the Constitution and we want to maintain the unity of Iraq.”
“We do not want any confrontation or armed clashes with the Peshmerga, but the federal authority must be imposed,” Abadi said, calling on “the Peshmerga forces in the disputed areas to work under the command of the federal forces.”
“The victory over terrorism would not have been achieved without the unity of the Iraqis,” he said.
Abadi said that “with the liberation of Hawija, only Damascus will have a border with Syria,” revealing that “France lent Iraq 430 million euros for the liberated areas.”
“The Iraqi government continues to bring the displaced back to their liberated areas,” he said.
