Abadi refuses to hold talks with the Kurdistan regionBaghdad / Sky Press:

Iraqi Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Haider al-Abadi said on Tuesday that his country refuses to hold talks with the Kurdistan region on the outcome of the independence referendum.

Abadi said in a speech that “the Federal Court decided not to hold the referendum for unconstitutionality,” noting: “We are not ready to discuss the results of the referendum or deal with it.”

He pointed out that “we will not accept the results of the referendum neither we nor any other party will not have any results,” stressing that “we will step up our actions to bring those who have caused this chaos and discord responsibility, not the Kurdish citizens.”

He explained that “we will not resort to the imposition of the status quo by force and we will rely on the Constitution,” noting that “the Federal Court is the one that resolves the dispute and not others.”
