A US official revealed on Thursday that the United States and Iran have reached an agreement to achieve comprehensive peace in the Middle East region, adding that this agreement needs the final approval of President Donald Trump.
According to Axios, the terms of the deal between Iran and the United States were reached on Tuesday, but the leaders of the two countries have not yet agreed. However, Trump told the mediators that he wanted a few days to think about the details of the agreement.
The website quoted the American official as saying that the agreement will last for 60 days, and obliges Iran to stop threatening the Strait of Hormuz, and also obliges it to remove all mines from Hormuz within 30 days.
The official also pointed out that the agreement includes an Iranian commitment not to seek to acquire nuclear weapons, explaining that the agreement stipulates that the first issue of negotiations during the 60 days is the nuclear file, and revealing that the naval blockade on Iran will be lifted during the period of implementation of the agreement.
