Shafaq News/ The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced, on Monday, the start of work on the new electronic passport system, which citizens can register to obtain throughout Iraq.
The official spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier General Muqdad Miri, considered during a press conference that this procedure is an achievement that is the first of its kind in the history of the Iraqi state, noting that “the current electronic passport can be obtained by citizens easily and in all parts of the country.”
According to the Ministry of Interior, through the Ministry’s oversight bodies, represented by the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency, the Personnel Security Directorate, and the Internal Security Forces Inspection Authority, and the activation of continuous monitoring and follow-up, the electronic passport has achieved a new breakthrough in combating corruption.
She explained that the corruption rate since the implementation of this passport has reached zero%, which indicates the Ministry of Interior’s relentless efforts to eliminate all suspicions of corruption and move forward with the electronic automation project in the joints and formations of the Ministry of Interior.
