As foreign currency prices continue to rise and the economic situation in Iran deteriorates, the dollar price in the free market has exceeded 115,000 tomans.
The dollar reached 115,300 tomans on Saturday, an increase of more than 2,000 tomans compared to the price recorded on Wednesday of 112,800 tomans.
These fluctuations come at a time when the exchange rate has been rising rapidly since the beginning of the week. On November 8, the dollar was trading at 108,000 tomans, meaning it has risen by more than 5,000 tomans, or about 5.2 percent.
In recent weeks, a surge in inflation and rising foreign currency prices has increased citizens’ concerns about the deteriorating economic situation in the country, a surge that intensified after the activation of the mechanism and the return of UN Security Council sanctions.
According to the Statistics Center report, the average annual inflation rate this month reached 40.4 percent, reflecting an increase in the average prices of goods and services during the past twelve months, compared to the same period of the previous year.
The latest report from the Iranian central bank showed that capital outflows during the first quarter of this year reached a historic record high, reflecting the depth of the financial crisis in the country.
