A representative calls for extending the legislative term… We have an important entitlement before us

Representative Adnan Al-Jabri called, on Monday, for extending the legislative term next May.
Al-Jabri told Al-Maalouma, “The legislative term is nearing its end, and the recess is approaching next May, and despite that, the 2024 budget schedules have not arrived from the Council of Ministers yet.”
He called on the Council of Ministers to “expedite sending the 2024 budget schedules to the House of Representatives, which must take a decision to extend the legislative term and not enjoy the recess until after voting on the budget schedules.”
He pointed out that “completion of the budget schedules will give flexibility to ministries and government agencies in carrying out their duties and completing their plans for reconstruction and construction.”
It is noteworthy that the legislative term ends on May 10 next month, and thus the House of Representatives will enter a recess that will last more than a month.
