An informed source revealed, on Sunday, a proposal that had been circulated to raise the exchange rate of the dollar against the dinar again. The source said, “There are deliberations regarding a new increase in the price of the dollar, to become 1553 dinars per dollar.” He added, “This proposal has been used as compensation for imposing an income tax on employees and also for practicing some professions.” He pointed out, “The proposal, if implemented, will save about 3 trillion dinars for the state treasury.” During the last period, deputies noted the possibility of raising the dollar, but the Ministry of Finance confirmed that there is no increase in the exchange rate. It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Finance decided at the end of last year to raise the exchange rate of the dollar to 1445 dinars against the dollar, which sparked widespread controversy in the country.
