A parliamentary committee confirms the solution to the technical problems surrounding the oil and gas law

Member of the Parliamentary Oil, Gas and Natural Resources Committee, Kazem Al-Touki, confirmed on Wednesday that all technical problems surrounding the oil and gas law have been resolved, with the exception of the political problems between Baghdad and Erbil regarding the law, which require intervention from the active parties to resolve the problems surrounding the law.
Al-Touki told Al-Maalouma, “It was hoped that the oil and gas law would be resolved and handed over to Parliament for discussion during the next legislative term of Parliament, but it was not completed within the corridors of the government.”
He added, “The plan provided for discussing the oil and gas law between the Prime Minister and the political blocs and between the region and the Ministry of Oil before it was handed over to Parliament for reading, discussion and voting.”
He stated that “the committees concerned with resolving the oil and gas law have finished collecting the technical problems related to the law, but political problems still exist between the center and the region, which require intervention by the parties to the political process in order for all matters to be resolved to advance the enactment of the law.”
