A member of the House of Representatives, Baqir Al-Saadi, confirmed, on Saturday, that the agreement to determine the percentage of Kurdistan from the general budget will be made with a guarantee that the revenues from oil and gas exports will be handed over to the central government, while stressing that the region has entitlements and duties that everyone must abide by.

Al-Saadi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, that “the agreement to determine the percentage of the region at 14% of the general budget will be done while ensuring that oil and gas export revenues are handed over to the central government,” noting that “there are no differences between citizens throughout Iraq.”

And he added, “The Kurdistan region has entitlements from the government, but it is required to abide by its duties in delivering oil and gas export revenues outside Iraq.”

The leader of the State of Law Coalition, Jassem Muhammad, had revealed in a statement to Al-Maalouma about “a preliminary agreement on the 2023 budget between Baghdad and Erbil, which stipulated an increase in the Kurdistan region’s share of the budget from 12% to 14%, according to a new population estimate.”

And the Federal Supreme Court had ruled earlier in the day to cancel the decisions of the Council of Ministers regarding sending financial shares to the Kurdistan region.
