MP Thaer Makhif revealed on Monday the date for the 2025 budget schedules to reach Parliament, confirming that it will be submitted to the Council by the end of this week or early next week.
“The 2025 budget schedules are expected to reach the House of Representatives in the coming days, specifically by the end of this week or next,” Makhif told Al-Maalouma News Agency. He noted that “Parliament had previously voted on a three-year budget to avoid an annual vote on the schedules, but an annual vote on the schedules has become necessary.”
He explained that “the schedules are currently with the government, and they are expected to be completed and sent to Parliament soon, where the Council will vote on them immediately upon receipt to ensure that the ministries’ work is not delayed.”
He added, “The delay in the budget schedules to this date is due to the current financial deficit the government is suffering from, as indicated by the Minister of Finance, in addition to the impact of previous and new Popular Mobilization Forces laws. The government prefers to wait for the inclusion of financial allocations and the determination of expected costs after voting on one of these laws.”
It is noteworthy that the House of Representatives previously voted on the budget amendment law and sent it to the government to send the budget schedules.
