The head of the bloc, Ibtisam al-Hilali, told Shafaq News agency, “The first legislative term of the second legislative year will end tomorrow, Tuesday, and according to the rules of procedure of the House of Representatives, the Presidency of the Council must extend the current term until the budget law is approved.

Al-Hilali added, “The Presidency of the House of Representatives will decide in a session tomorrow, Tuesday, to extend the current legislative term for a month to approve the budget law,” indicating that “the Parliamentary Finance Committee is working to reduce the budget deficit rate of 64 trillion dinars, and the deficit rate after the reduction reaches 50 trillion.” “.

And she continued by saying, “It is expected that the Parliamentary Finance Committee will complete its final report to approve the budget law at the end of next week, provided that it is approved as a maximum at the end of this month.”

In early April, the Iraqi Council of Representatives completed the first reading of the draft federal budget law for the Republic of Iraq for the fiscal years (2023, 2024, 2025).

The draft budget is still hovering in the corridors of the House of Representatives in light of the visions and “preparations” for the final approval, with some accusations being made from time to time against certain parties of obstructing its passage for political goals, according to informed sources.
