Today, Tuesday, a member of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Al-Baldawi, personified the causes of the differences and the problematic that the political process is experiencing between the governments of Baghdad and Erbil, and while confirming the region’s lack of commitment to previous agreements, he demanded the establishment of fixed points in a budget related to the rights of the two governments.
Al-Baldawi said, in an interview with Al-Maalouma Agency, that “the main goal of the budget is for all governorates to obtain their rights in proportion to the extent of their deprivation and need,” noting that “there are those who are trying to stir up smoke and block the vision of people and society from us.”
He added, “The principle of the process of adjusting budgets is to preserve the rights of all components and sects,” calling for “fixing reciprocal points in which the rights of the central and regional governments are obtained, that is, just as Baghdad committed to paying these sums, there must be an obligation in the region and governorates to perform their obligations towards the federal government.”
The member of the House of Representatives explained: “If the intentions are sincere and reassuring, then there are no problems,” asking, “What is the problem if the federal government is committed to sending the sums related to the employees of the Kurdistan region, provided that the region is committed to sending oil and non-oil revenues?”
And Al-Baldawi said, “The problem in the political process between Baghdad and Erbil is the lack of trust, which was established from previous actions, when Baghdad did not send Erbil’s share.”
The deputy confirmed: “If we go back to the main reason, we find that the region is basically not committed to paying the money it owes to Baghdad, which caused many problems.”
A member of the House of Representatives, Muhammad Anouz, had predicted the existence of mediating solutions to the current Baghdad-Erbil dispute, indicating that the political forces are required to remedy the current dispute and resolve the conflict.
