Today, Tuesday, the representative of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Muhammad Al-Baldawi, confirmed that there were many deals that took place in the previous government, the numbers of which exceed the theft of the century.
Al-Baldawi said, in an interview with Al-Maalouma, that “there are corrupt heads in the previous caretaker government whose thefts exceeded the theft of the century,” noting that “there are external parties trying to close the files of the theft of the century.”
He continued, “Investigations and parliamentary movements continue to pursue those involved in stealing the century in order to reveal the latest names and new details in it.”
He pointed out that “the resources through which corruption deals took place in the previous caretaker government are very large,” noting that “the new government will seek to stop the wheel of corruption that accelerated in the previous period.”
The Parliamentary Integrity Committee had announced, earlier in the day, that the report on the “theft of the century” would soon be announced, while Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’a al-Sudani issued directives regarding the investigation of the case.
The scandal of theft of tax money sparked angry popular reactions, which demanded that those involved be disclosed and imprisoned, amid clear negligence on the part of the caretaker prime minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi.
