Representative Hussein Arab warned of the continuing phenomenon of chronic absenteeism among members of the House of Representatives, noting that more than 150 representatives are continuously absent from sessions, which hinders legislative and oversight work.
Arab stressed in a statement to Al-Maalouma Agency that “the Council Presidency must take a firm stance towards this phenomenon, proposing the dismissal of any representative who is absent from 5 consecutive sessions or 10 separate sessions without an acceptable excuse.”
He pointed out that “the continuation of this situation weakens the prestige of the Council and affects its performance, saying: “The Council cannot continue with representatives while half of them are absent.”
It is noteworthy that a large number of representatives have been absent from recent parliamentary sessions without any legal justification.
