Essam Shaker, a member of the coordinating framework, confirmed on Sunday that the identity of the next prime minister will be announced and clear before January 9th.
Shaker told Al-Maalomah, “The constitutional framework gives the current fifth parliamentary session the right to continue parliamentary work, questioning, and voting on laws until January 8, 2026. After this date, it is considered, according to the law, a previous parliamentary session, and the sixth session has the right to proceed with the constitutional paths after taking the oath.”
Shaker added that “the coordination framework will be ready on that date to announce the consensus name for the next prime minister,” expecting that “the process of forming the government will witness accelerated activity, especially in light of the existence of important understandings with the rest of the forces regarding finalizing the government program and the alliances that guarantee a national partnership formula between the forces representing the components.”
He indicated that “the framework is the body responsible for determining the identity of the next prime minister, and it is expected that the coming weeks will produce more than one candidate before agreeing on the final name that will represent the framework in the premiership.”
