MP Mukhtar al-Moussawi affirmed on Saturday that preserving and supporting the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) is a national duty that cannot be neglected, stressing that the PMF has become a fundamental pillar of the Iraqi security apparatus.
Al-Moussawi told the Information Agency, “The PMF has actively contributed to strengthening the state’s ability to confront various internal and external threats,” noting that “this national institution has proven over the past years that it is a force that has sacrificed for Iraq and succeeded in repelling the most dangerous terrorist attacks.”
He added, “Attempts to question the role of the PMF or undermine its standing will not succeed and will not affect its firmly established position in the hearts of the Iraqi people,” emphasizing that “the PMF will remain a safety valve for the country and a guarantor of its stability.”
He pointed out that “the PMF today constitutes a fundamental pillar in the security system and enhances the state’s ability to protect its sovereignty and the security of its citizens,” explaining that “any attempts to undermine its role will not diminish its national and popular standing.”
He concluded by saying, “Preserving and supporting this national institution is a collective responsibility that falls on everyone and cannot be compromised under any circumstances.”
