Legal expert Ali al-Tamimi confirmed on Saturday that the government cannot confiscate or directly dispose of funds, assets, and real estate seized during investigations into those accused of financial and administrative corruption. Instead, these are deposited in a special fund until final judicial rulings are issued.
Al-Tamimi told the Information Agency that “the seizure of funds, real estate, and vehicles belonging to those accused of corruption by security and oversight agencies falls under temporary seizure procedures.” He explained that “these assets remain in the possession and under the supervision of the judiciary in a special trust fund, and their fate will not be decided until the competent criminal court issues its ruling against the convicted individuals.”
He added that “after all stages of litigation are completed, judicial rulings are issued and become final, and the appeal process is completed, the competent court issues a parallel decision to officially confiscate these funds and real estate and transfer their ownership to the central state treasury.”
