On Tuesday, the leader of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Uday Abdel-Hadi, accused the US ambassador of violating an international agreement 7 times in Iraq.
Abd al-Hadi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma, that “an international agreement regulates the work mechanisms of foreign ambassadors in the countries hosting them, the most important of which are non-interference in internal affairs and respect for their sovereignty.”
He added, “The US ambassador in Baghdad violated that agreement 7 times within months by making provocative statements related to security, the economy, and public policy, in addition to holding meetings with security leaders, making tours in several regions, and making positions that reflect unacceptable interference.”
He pointed out that “everything that the US ambassador does reflects a transgression of all diplomatic norms and a violation of his sovereignty,” calling for “the need for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to have a clear position on its actions.”
The positions and statements of the US ambassador in Baghdad sparked a wave of harsh criticism by Iraqi political forces, amid calls for the intervention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
