A lawyer calls for Al-Kazemi to be tried according to Article 340 of the Penal Code

On Thursday, legal expert Ahmed Shahid Al-Shammari called for judicial measures to be taken against the caretaker prime minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, in accordance with Article 340 of the Penal Code.
Al-Shammari said in an interview with Al-Information, that “Article 340 of the Iraqi Penal Code shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding seven years or by imprisonment every employee or person assigned to a public service who intentionally or inflicts damage to the funds or interests of the entity in which he works or is connected to by virtue of his position, or with the money of the persons entrusted to him.
He added that “the current government has proven its failure in a number of financial and security files, as well as wasting public money, as well as not preserving Iraq’s sovereignty from Turkish-American interference.”
Al-Shammari indicated that “the head of the caretaker government, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, bears the responsibility according to Article 78, and he is the first direct executive responsible for the state’s general policy. He is the one who bears the responsibility for wasting public money.”
A member of the coordinating body of the popular movement for the Belt and Road, Hussein Ali Al-Karaawi, accused in a previous interview with “Al-Maalouma”, the caretaker government of spreading lies, disrupting the Belt Initiative and stealing the Iraqi people’s money.
