Shafaq News/ The Kurdish representative in the Iraqi Parliament, Muthanna Amin, expected on Tuesday that the “amended” federal budget would be approved early next month.
Amin said in a statement to Shafaq News Agency, “The competent committees in the Iraqi Parliament have begun reviewing and amending the draft of the federal budget law since the tenth of January, and it is expected that it will be submitted to Parliament at the end of this month or the beginning of next March,” stressing that “it is “I’m too late.”
He added, “It is expected that the state’s general budget will be approved at the beginning of March, because delaying it will affect the general situation in Iraq, not only in the region, since many matters are related to the real numbers that the budget will approve, so it is necessary that it be approved as quickly as possible.”
He stated that “the Kurdish people need and deserve approval of the budget as soon as possible.”
Regarding the reasons for delaying the salaries of the region’s employees for the month of January, Amin said, “It was related to the issue of the Iraqi government’s actual spending, as the Iraqi government was dealing in accordance with the (12/1) principle. Therefore, the region’s share was small, but after the elections ended and the government began disbursing the provinces’ development budget, the share increased.” The region, stressing that it is expected that the region’s share this months will be less than last month, but it will not be sufficient. It is hoped that the budget will be approved in the third month and then the problem of the region’s share will be solved.”
