Cabinet eyes joint committee to oversee Kuwait-Iraq ‘ties’
Legal Measures To Protect National Unity OK’d KUWAIT CITY, Sept 17, (KUNA): The Kuwaiti Cabinet held its weekly meeting at Sief Palace on Monday under the chairmanship of Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
Following the meeting, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah gave a briefing of the meeting deliberations and outcome.
The minister said the Cabinet started with reviewing the letters addressed to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah from President of Turkey Abdullah Gul, Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah, President of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang, President of Malawi Joyce Banda, Acting President of Guinea-Bissau Manuel Serifo Nhamadjo and Secretary General of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.
The letters focused on bilateral relations between the State of Kuwait and their nations and organizations.
Then the Cabinet tackled the latest political development in Kuwait, Arab region and whole world.
The Cabinet approved a draft law for the establishment of a joint committee for cooperation between the Kuwaiti and Iraqi governments.
In a move meant to encourage international organizations and academic association offering care for or studying needs of senior people, the Kuwaiti Cabinet approved a bill for launching an annual international award, named after HH the Amir of Kuwait, for the best organizations and researches in this domain in Eastern Middle East region.
The $500,000-prize will be offered in cooperation with the World Health Organization.
The Cabinet passed a number of legal measures to protect national unity and state stability and security.
It endorsed the foundation of the Kuwaiti association for small-sized enterprises and Kuwait club for thinking and creativity.
