USD-Iraqi dinarEconomic expert Abdul Rahman Al-Mashhadani confirmed that the Central Bank of Iraq is capable of financing the economy for a full year without affecting the price of the dollar.

Al-Mashhadani told Al-Furat News Agency that: “The continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz and its impact on the economic reality prompted the Central Bank to study the economic situation of Iraq in detail, especially after its meeting that discussed the current long-term crisis.”

He added, “What confirms the length of the crisis is the statement of the Supreme Leader, who indicated the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the reduction of oil exports, which negatively affects the Iraqi reality, with limited export possibilities.”

Al-Shahdani explained that “the remaining oil exported through the region amounts to 200,000 barrels via the Ceyhan pipeline, in addition to domestic oil. However, the Central Bank’s position remains positive, and it spoke of a reserve sufficient to finance Iraqi trade for 12 months, which is a reassuring element. This means that the sale of dollars will continue even if the bank does not receive dollars from the government within a year, in addition to the bank’s readiness to lend to the government when needed.”
