On Tuesday, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, announced his government’s support for the banking sector reform project adopted by the Central Bank of Iraq.
This came during his participation in a special dialogue session on the sidelines of the launch ceremony of the E-Psule project, in the presence of the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ali Al-Alaq, bank managers, and officials from the regional government.
Masrour Barzani said that this project is a great national achievement, and all of Iraq can benefit from it, explaining that the goal of all our projects is to serve the citizens, and at the same time facilitate the completion of their transactions.
He stressed that the economies of the world’s countries do not progress much by relying on cash payments, so we must work on developing the digital system, adding: Our services are provided to all citizens without any geographical discrimination.
Masrour Barzani continued: We are striving to build a better relationship between citizens and merchants, stressing that “no citizen or city will be deprived of our services.”
In another aspect of the banking reform adopted by the Central Bank, the head of the regional government addressed the issue, saying that the bank’s governor had started the banking reform project, and that it was a very good project, adding that Al-Alaq deserved praise, and that the projects he had started and those that were about to be completed were expected to benefit the people and move the Iraqi economy towards a better step.
He noted that “it can be said that if we had people like Al-Alaq, Iraq would not be suffering from a financial crisis,” stressing the strong support for reforming the private banking sector, which is very important, and these private banks can play a very important role in developing Iraq’s financial policy.
