Al-Anbari confirms the possibility of Maliki assuming power as Prime Minister

Sabah al-Anbari, a member of the State of Law Coalition, confirmed the possibility of Nouri al-Maliki returning to power as Prime Minister for the next term, especially given the successes he achieved during his eight years in office.
Al-Anbari told Al-Maalouma, “The selection of the next Prime Minister is not based on the number of seats or allocated to the bloc with the most seats within the Shia component.”
He added, “The political process in Iraq is based on consensus, and therefore the position of Prime Minister is decided through agreement among members of the same political camp, without delving into mathematical calculations or the number of parliamentary seats held by blocs within the framework.”
He indicated that “there is a possibility of repeating al-Maliki’s experience in power after his eight years in office and the successes he achieved during that period, most notably the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq, in addition to the political weight and balances he operates within.”
