Nizar Haider, director of the Iraqi Media Center in Washington, revealed on Tuesday that the Trump administration informed an official Iraqi government delegation of the offers made by outgoing Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to renew his term for a second time.
Haider told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “the Trump administration informed an official Iraqi delegation of its refusal to renew the term of outgoing Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani in exchange for concessions offered by the delegation, most notably the dissolution of the Popular Mobilization Forces, the severing of his new government’s relationship with Iran, and the recognition of the Zionist entity as an existing and recognized state.”
He added that “the Sudanese delegation returned empty-handed from Washington after the Trump administration insisted on rejecting the Sudanese concessions, considering him an unwelcome figure, and refusing to deal with a person who failed to manage his country.”
He indicated that “the Trump administration is closely monitoring the formation of the new Iraqi government and the political dialogues without endorsing any of the proposed candidates,” emphasizing that “the Sudanese delegation received no assurances regarding a change in positions or the renomination of Sudanese for a second term.”
