President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid has set Tuesday, December 29, as the date for the first session of the Iraqi parliament.
According to a document obtained by Shafaq News Agency, “Rashid issued a Republican Decree No. (54), issued based on the provisions of Article (54) and Clause (Fourth) of Article (73) of the Constitution.”
The document added that “Based on the Federal Supreme Court’s ratification of the final results of the general elections for membership in the House of Representatives, it was decided to call the Council to convene on Monday, December 29, 2025.”
The decree indicated that “the first session will be chaired by the oldest member, and the decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and shall be effective from the date of its issuance.”
