The Ministry of Transport will soon launch the third phase of the program to support the activation of contractual requirements for the Development Road project, after the successful completion of its previous two phases, which contributed to laying global institutional and contractual foundations for the project.
The director of the ministry’s media office, Maitham Al-Safi, told Al-Sabah that the previous two phases included preparing the organizational and contractual frameworks and identifying governance models and work mechanisms, which enhances the project’s readiness to move to more advanced stages, and ensures clarity of roles and responsibilities among all relevant parties.
He explained that the third phase, which will be launched soon, will focus on activating and practically implementing the contractual requirements, including supporting national work teams and developing follow-up and compliance mechanisms, as well as ensuring the integration of the legal, technical and financial aspects of the project in order to achieve the highest levels of efficiency and sustainability.
Al-Safi considered the development road to be one of the major strategic projects, given its pivotal role in enhancing regional connectivity, stimulating trade and economic activity, and creating broad investment and development opportunities, stressing the ministry’s commitment to continuing to work according to a clear vision and specialized consulting partnerships to ensure the success of the project and the achievement of its national goals.
He revealed that the Supreme Committee for the Development Road is currently studying the operational plans submitted by Oliver Wyman and (PTP) to choose the best one, based on the Prime Minister’s directive, who demanded that the options presented to it be decided, stressing the Ministry’s keenness to adopt the best global expertise, which will contribute to completing the project according to the highest international standards and in accordance with the approved timetables.
