Independent politician Ayed Al-Hilali explained the nature of the nomination of names for the position of Prime Minister and the blocs supporting them within the coordination framework, noting that some candidates were nominated by their political blocs, while others came through consensus within the framework.
Al-Hilali told Al-Maalouma, “Many of the candidates for the position of Prime Minister have points against them, including their lack of qualifications for the position, in addition to the fact that some of them have a veto preventing them from reaching power, while there are chances for Al-Sudani to repeat the term.”
He added that “the other seven candidates for the position of Prime Minister were not put forward by any political bloc, but rather there was a consensus on them within the coordination framework in order to run for the position, with the exception of Maliki and Sudani, as their political blocs were the ones who nominated them for the presidency.”
He explained that “the Badr Bloc, despite Qasim al-Araji’s affiliation with it, announced that al-Araji’s nomination for the position did not originate from them. This is in addition to the nomination of Muhammad Sahib al-Daraji, who is affiliated with the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, while this coalition has not nominated anyone other than al-Sudani. Therefore, the nomination process may be driven by political motives on the part of the leaders of the framework.”
