The “Victory” coalition, led by Haider al-Abadi, revealed on Monday the date for the naming of the next prime minister by the Shiite coordination framework.
Coalition spokesman Aqeel al-Rudaini told Shafaq News Agency that “the meeting of the coordination framework scheduled for this evening will not decide on the name of the next prime minister, but the framework will resolve this issue definitively within a maximum of two weeks.”
He added that “the coordination framework is determined not to break the constitutional deadlines and to form a government within those deadlines,” indicating that “the current stage requires the appointment of the Speakers of the House of Representatives and the Republic.”
Al-Rudaini pointed out that “the coming days will witness intense political activity among all political forces to decide on the appointment of positions.”
In this context, MP Ibtisam Al-Hilali, from the State of Law Coalition, said that the leadership of the Coordination Framework will hold a meeting this evening to discuss a number of issues, most notably the issue of the candidate for the Prime Ministership.
Al-Hilali explained to Shafaq News Agency that “the meeting will discuss the movement of the framework and political forces regarding the nomination of candidates for the positions of Speaker of Parliament and President of the Republic, following the Federal Court’s decision to ratify the final results, and to expedite the convening of the first session of Parliament.”
He continued, saying that “the meeting will also discuss the names of candidates for the position of Prime Minister,” noting that “there are 5 names that are considered the most likely to assume this position, most notably the leader of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki.”
The Federal Supreme Court (the highest judicial authority in Iraq) ratified yesterday, Sunday, December 14, 2025, the final results of the general elections for membership in the House of Representatives.
