Former MP Mueen Al-Kadhimi confirmed on Sunday that focusing media and political attention on the Coordination Framework, rather than other political forces, regarding the nomination of the next Prime Minister is a natural matter, given the great importance and sensitivity of this position in managing state affairs.
Al-Kadhimi told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “the position of Prime Minister is one of the most dangerous and important positions in the Iraqi state, due to the direct responsibilities it entails in managing political, economic, security and service files.”
He added that “the media and political focus on the coordination framework regarding the naming of the next prime minister does not reflect the existence of disagreements within the framework, unlike what is happening in some other political components, especially within the Sunni and Kurdish blocs, in terms of clear divisions.”
He noted that “the forces of the coordination framework remain cohesive, and continue to hold their meetings and dialogues with a high sense of responsibility, with a clear commitment to prioritizing the country’s best interests over any other considerations.”
Al-Kadhimi explained that “finalizing the nomination of the next prime minister will represent a positive pressure factor on the rest of the political forces to expedite the selection of their candidates for the positions of President of the Republic and Speaker of Parliament, which will contribute to accelerating the completion of constitutional requirements and ending the state of political stagnation.”
