A file worth billions... MP - The Sudanese government failed to address itInformation/Baghdad…
Member of Parliament Hussein Ali accused Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s government on Wednesday of negligence and failure to address the issue of collecting customs duties, despite proposals submitted by the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Investment to address the existing problems in this matter.

Ali told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “the customs duties collection file is still suffering from widespread corruption and personal influences,” noting that “the Sudanese government has not put in place real solutions to address this important file, which provides the state treasury with large financial revenues.”

He added that “the Parliamentary Committee on Economy and Investment identified all the negative points related to this file, and presented appropriate solutions to eliminate corruption in this vital sector, but the government ignored the parliamentary report and did not act on its contents.”

He pointed out that “the customs duties file is one of the most corrupt files, given the absence of deterrent measures and modern mechanisms to reduce corruption at land, air, and sea border crossings.”
