On Tuesday, Uday Abdul-Hadi, a member of the Coordination Framework, confirmed that the total number of candidates for the position of the next prime minister has been reduced to only five names. He predicted that resolving the issue would take at least four weeks.
Speaking to Al-Maalouma, Abdul-Hadi said, “The number of names proposed for the position of the next prime minister has decreased to five candidates so far.” He pointed out that “the matter still requires four weeks of internal dialogues and understandings in order to reach a consensus candidate who represents the Framework’s forces.”
He added that “the Framework’s forces have not yet finalized the selection methodology and have left the matter to the relevant central committee. It is expected that the names will be officially presented during the upcoming sessions for detailed discussion.” He clarified that “the Framework is the body that will make its final choices.”
Abdul-Hadi continued, “The beginning of 2026 may witness the presentation of the final candidate’s name to the other political forces to proceed with forming the next government.”
