Following Trumps remarks about Iraq, Al-Sudani said - I was keen to build friendships that serve the countryShafaq News – Baghdad
Outgoing Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed on Tuesday that since assuming his duties in the current caretaker government, he has been keen to build “friendships” that serve the country, in an apparent reference to the statement made by US President Donald Trump about Iraq.

Al-Sudani wrote in a post on the “X” platform, saying: “Since I took over the responsibility, I have been keen to build friendships that serve Iraq.”

He added, “I realized from the beginning that it is friendship, not enmity, that guarantees our country’s stability, growth, and prosperity.”

Trump had stated to reporters at the conclusion of a lengthy meeting of the US administration at the White House that since the destruction of Iranian nuclear facilities, Iraq has become a completely different country, and its relations with the United States have improved, adding: “The Prime Minister of Iraq has nominated me for the Nobel Peace Prize.”

He pointed out that Tehran was previously a bully in the Middle East and exerted pressure on Iraq, and controlled the region for a long time, but it is no longer so now after we destroyed its nuclear weapons.
