Political analyst Majashaa al-Tamimi asserted on Saturday that the country’s economic and political situation necessitates the selection of a prime minister with a clear and publicly declared program capable of addressing the mounting challenges.
Speaking to the Information Agency, al-Tamimi stated, “There is broad political consensus on maintaining the presidency without any real influence on political decision-making.” He noted that “Kurdish forces remain committed to the position, while former Speaker of Parliament Mohammed al-Halbousi’s aspirations to attain it are currently untenable.”
He added that “the presidential issue remains complex due to the divergent stances of political forces,” pointing out that “the younger generation within the Coordination Committee has become more influential than traditional forces, which will be reflected in the nature of future decisions.”
Al-Tamimi explained that “the Coordination Committee is fully aware of the sensitivity of the upcoming phase and the internal and external challenges it presents, especially given the escalating political and economic pressures.”
He pointed out that “the corruption file in Iraq is so large and complex that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani cannot handle it alone,” calling for “building a national system to support the fight against corruption and strengthen state institutions.”
