US President’s envoy Mark Savaya said on Friday (November 21, 2025) that he looks forward to visiting Iraq soon and holding meetings with the country’s “key leaders,” stressing that Washington is closely monitoring the formation of the new government.
Savaya added in a tweet on the “X” website that “Iraq has made remarkable progress over the past three years, and we hope that this progress will continue in the coming months,” noting that the United States “is following with interest the process of forming the Iraqi government.”
Savaya stressed that “the United States will not accept or allow any external interference in the formation of the new Iraqi government,” in what is the clearest indication yet of Washington’s position on the regional and international tensions over the shape of the next government.
Unofficial news had been circulating on media platforms and social media sites in recent days, talking about the end of the mission of the US President’s envoy, Mark Savaya, in Iraq. However, an official source denied those claims, before Savaya himself confirmed the stability of his position and his continued follow-up on the Iraqi file through his appearance today via “Instagram”.
