He employed a thousand media figures and spent 2 billion... The Sudanese president is rejected by the framework for a second termInformation/Baghdad…
Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani has been excluded from the Coordination Framework’s considerations for the next phase as a prime minister, following a series of issues, factors, and actions that led the Framework’s members to reject his presence among the candidates for the position for a new term. This is especially true given the large sums of money he spent and his employment of more than a thousand media figures to serve his projects, and the increased tension between him and the Framework’s leaders. Despite his winning a large number of parliamentary seats, this will not prevent the largest bloc from choosing the new prime minister.
The head of the Wujud Movement, Muhammad Abu Saeeda, told Al-Maalouma that “Al-Sudani’s positions, actions, and departure from the framework in many files and movements abroad, and the break that occurred in the recent period, made him an unlikely candidate for the premiership, as tensions between Al-Sudani and the other parties within the framework have intensified as the elections approached, reaching the stage of verbal and verbal attacks between the framework’s leaders, especially the State of Law coalition and other parties affiliated with Al-Sudani.” He added that “Al-Sudani allocated a media group to himself, with the number of its members reaching a thousand journalists working on a freelance basis in order to serve his projects, and spent huge sums of money exceeding $2 billion during the last election process, which made him unacceptable for a second term.”
For his part, Sabah Al-Akeeli, a member of the Rights Movement, confirmed to Al-Maalouma that “the political forces within the framework agree on expediting the formation of the government and choosing a compromise candidate within the constitutional timeframe. The selection process will be carried out through the committee appointed by the leaders of the framework, and the candidate will be presented to them later for approval.” He pointed out that “the leaders of the framework have set specific conditions for the candidate for the position of Prime Minister, including not running for a second term and not establishing a party during his term in office, in order to avoid a repeat of what happened in the Al-Sudani government, in addition to stipulating that the next government program be under the supervision of the coordinating framework.”
In a related development, Ali al-Zubaidi, a member of the Coordination Framework, explained to Al-Maalomah that “the political process will not move towards a majority government, especially since al-Sudani’s candidacy will be devoid of substance, given the manner in which he previously served, which was unacceptable to the Coordination Framework. There have been many significant disagreements between the State of Law Coalition and al-Sudani, in addition to other disputes between the Prime Minister and numerous political blocs, such as the Badr Organization and Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq.” He indicated that “the Coordination Framework will nominate a candidate for the position of Prime Minister from within its ranks, and al-Sudani will be excluded from consideration for a second term. It is expected that he will be offered a ministerial post, considering his parliamentary representation.”
He further noted that “al-Fayyad, al-Fatlawi, and al-Asadi have joined the Coordination Framework, and al-Sudani’s plans for a second term have been thwarted by al-Maliki’s steadfast opposition to al-Sudani’s appointment. Some political leaders share this view, even if they haven’t publicly stated it.”
